"Steer Clear of This Company!"
We bought a set of 24” Split Oak Vent Free Logs for $880, thinking we could use it with a portable propane tank—turns out, that’s a no-go! When we tried to return it, they told us it was buried in the fine print of the installation instructions and that we’d have to cover the return shipping. Since it was super heavy, we had to go through four different people/companies before we finally found someone to install it, which set us back another $300 (some quotes were as high as $800!). Now that it’s finally in place, it’s SO loud that we can’t enjoy the fire like we thought we would. Honestly, we don’t even want to use it. Plus, it’s not really ventless unless you’re okay with inhaling a bunch of gas fumes. Our den is 24’x26’, so it’s not like it’s crammed in a tiny room (the den opens up to the kitchen, which adds another 200 sq ft). I would NEVER suggest this company or their ridiculous ventless gas logs to anyone. I really wish I had gone through Amazon, who actually backs their products. Just stay AWAY from this company and their offerings!

"Subpar Burner Quality"
Once we set up our Peterson Real Fyre burner and checked for any gas leaks, we ignited it and saw flames shooting out from the side, right onto the gas lines. We took everything apart and discovered a flaw in the manufacturing. There was a gap in a weld where the burner tube goes through the pan's side. I reached out to Peterson Real Fyre, and after reviewing the pictures I provided, they admitted it was indeed a manufacturing issue and said it would be covered by warranty. However, here we are, six weeks later, and still no replacement has arrived. I’d really recommend considering another brand instead of Peterson Real Fyre.

"Retailer dodges accountability for their mistakes..."
I bought an item that was claimed to be compatible with my setup according to their site. After a month, my system crashed, so I sent detailed photos and a video to Peterson. They first claimed that the unit I got wasn’t suitable for my system, but I pointed out that this wasn’t mentioned at any point during the purchase. Then they switched gears and said I hadn’t followed the instructions properly. They even sent me an example from the instructions. The problem? They didn’t provide the actual instructions they referenced. The ones I got with the unit didn’t include the example they showed me.
In the end, they didn’t give me any useful info to help make the right buying choice or to install it properly. Now, I’m stuck with a broken unit and a retailer that won’t take any responsibility for their errors.

"Three Years with Our Peterson Logs"
We've had our Peterson logs for three years now. Initially, we faced issues with the pilot light not staying on, and then it became a hassle to get it relit. The service technicians have been out to fix the pilot assembly, the starter, and even the manual starter, but now we're looking at needing a new pilot assembly altogether. We've got two gas continuous hot water heaters that fire up and shut down at least a thousand times a month, and they've been running for eight years. Seriously, why can't Peterson gas logs step up their game and match that kind of reliability?

"No support for faulty items."
I really like the product, but Peterson sure doesn't stand by their stuff. Got the lighter pan, and the 1/2 inch gas pipe was busted at the reducer. I even sent a pic, but still had to buy a new pan. Seems like they thought I somehow managed to break a 1/2 inch pipe. Clearly, the fitting was over torqued during production.
"Adore Our Log Sets, But Caution is Key"
We really dig our log sets, but listen up, folks—BE CAREFUL! The warranty ain't worth much if you find any issues with your logs right from the start. We ended up in a tough spot, having to fix things ourselves and cover the costs. So sure, when they function well, we’re all in, but don’t count on any support once you fork over your cash.

"Remote Control is Totally Useless!"
The gas logs look authentic and function well, but the remote is a total mess! The one that came with the set was non-functional, so the plumber who set up the logs had to request a new one. The replacement was a different model from the original, so they had to tweak the connection to make it fit. It actually worked for a couple of months, can you believe it? At first, it wouldn’t turn on, and then it wouldn’t turn off. The plumber had to switch to manual operation. If I wanted that, I could’ve just gone for a cheaper option. Now I’m stuck ordering a second replacement and shelling out more cash for a plumber to fix it again!

"The product's awesome, but the company is a mess"
The product's awesome, but dealing with this company is a total mess. First off, they don’t have any of the items in stock and rely on a third-party distributor. Their terms of service say they keep your info private, but they pass it along to this third party, and who knows what happens to it after that.

"Decent Product, But Delivery Issues"
The initial shipping date was given, but every time it just disappeared with a new excuse. They kept telling me, 'it’s on the next truck in a few days.' Turns out there were some issues going on behind the scenes, and I never got the right info. It took ages to finally receive two firelogs. The product itself is great, but the delivery was way late for the heating season.

"Cozy and Simple!"
Functions wonderfully! It’s gorgeous and super comfy!! We really enjoy hanging out by our fireplace these days. Thrilled that we switched our traditional wood-burning fireplace to gas!! We find ourselves using it a lot more now!!

"Awesome Logs"
These logs are pretty awesome. The only issue is they produce quite a bit of soot. I contacted customer support, and they told me to place the media in the pan exclusively. We'll see if that does the trick this year, but I'm a bit doubtful that the soot issue will be resolved.

"Our New Log Set is a Hit!"
We've been enjoying our log set for nearly a year now, and I was thrilled to get a nudge to share my thoughts via email after having some time to really appreciate our purchase. A plumber, who used to work for a gas log company, installed it for us, and he was genuinely impressed with both the set and the burner, saying it might be the best he's ever put in! Our friends and family all feel the same way. We decided to add some black lava rock to cover the sand and those bright faux embers underneath the logs. The remote start feature makes this vented set even more enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone wanting the cozy vibe of a real fire with a classic style and simple operation. Thanks a bunch!

"Fantastic gas fireplace setup."
I might come off as a bit of a grumpy old man. Being a retired engineer, I tend to be pretty picky about shoddy designs and confusing manuals. After digging into nearly every option available, I finally settled on Peterson due to their reputation for quality and reasonable pricing. This gas fireplace setup is truly fantastic. Everything I required was included in the packages, and it all showed up in flawless shape. The directions were straightforward, complete with helpful illustrations, making the installation a breeze. Now our living room is nice and cozy during those chilly winter nights. We’re really pleased and would definitely recommend Peterson.

"Valve and Burner"
I just got the request for this review, even though I fixed the fireplace a few months back. Can’t remember the specific part numbers, though. My old valve finally kicked the bucket, so I went ahead and bought a new burner along with a manual valve to make things safer. I’m really happy with what I got and would definitely suggest them. The installation was a breeze, and now the fireplace is all modernized and functioning perfectly.
